A cold winter day...

The temperatures on the East Coast of Canada plummeted at the beginning of the week last week.  I wanted to wear a skirt to work but only had thin tights, so I put leggings over my tights and wore tall boots hoping no one would notice.   These cold days really make me want to invest in a pair of fleece lined tights.

 Once again I am wearing my Steve Madden boots.  These are so versatile and totally change the look when you wear them rolled down.  It is like having a new pair of shoes each time you change them.

Hinsdale Trench

This trench jacket was part of my boxing day purchases from Je Suis Prest Boutique.  I have a long trench which is also made by BB Dakota (like this trench is) but is has fur on the collar.  The thing I love about this jacket is that it can be worn as a blazer during the winter and fall and a jacket into spring and summer.

The next time I wear this jacket I want to pair it with a skirt and a colourful tank underneath.

Madison

 Yesterday I received an e-mail from coach featuring their new purses in their Madison line.  They are so gorgeous and have so much texture, I could just look at them all day.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Ruffles

When I first spotted this sweater at Je Suis Prest Boutique I instantly fell in love.  It is very different from all the cardigans I have in my closet.  The navy blue is also a refreshing change to my usual black cardigans.  I  love how all the ruffles are different lengths, making it interesting to the eye.

This was also a work outfit that is super comfortable, yet professional; and at the time we were having some milder winter weather in Canada making it great for this season.

The bracelet is also a fun accessory that helps tie the grey in the pants together with the rest of the outfit.  I picked up this bracelet in Toronto last summer at H&M when I was there studying tap dance for a week.

Little Black Dress

Everyone needs a little black dress.  They are so perfect for any occasion.  I love this dress because it is so comfortable and different from my other black dresses. 



 I love the collar on this dress and how it stands up.  The zipper gives the dress a little something and makes it not so black.

 I found this outfit needed a pop of colour so I added my pink Nine West pumps .

School Spirit

The high school I teach at has spirit days every once and a while.  Last Friday was our annual basketball tournament and the whole school dresses up in our school colours, blue & white, as the school gets to go watch the game in the afternoon.  Since this was on Friday(casual day) and a blue & white day, this was a perfect opportunity for me to wear my it! Jeans, Jack tank and alternative apparel sweater from Je Suis Prest.

 This outfit also gave me the perfect opportunity to wear my bracelet that I got from Express in Las Vegas this past summer.

 These Steve Madden boots are perfect for skinny jeans and so versatile.  They can be worn with the cuff turned down (like in the photo), all the way unrolled or rolled down to an ankle boot.

The Colour Purple

The colour purple is something I need more of in my wardrobe.  I tend to gravitate towards the same colours when I am shopping; red, black, pink, brown and white.  So to get more purple in my outfits I purchased this skirt and top from Smart set this fall.

 The top is sheer so I needed to wear a tank underneath and then paired with black tights and booties makes it perfect for winter.

Second Boxing Day top

This top was a very different piece for me that I added to my wardrobe from boxing day sales.  It is a very soft cotton making it very comfortable for work.  I wasn't sure how it would be received at work but I had many compliments on it. 

 One of my favorite things about this shirt is the puff sleeve and the grey chiffon detailing by the right shoulder.

 This was a very difficult outfit to photograph as I wanted to show off the booties and when standing they are covered by my pants.

Pretty in Pink

For Christmas my hubby, Greg, got me this wonderful new pink bag to carry my laptop in to work.  I remember when I was picking it out in the store I had my pink Nine West pumps on, and I was trying on a few different colour bags.  Greg said he liked the pink best but he thought it could have been because it matches my shoes so well.  It does match my shoes perfectly but it will go with the many colours I wear in my wardrobe.

Skies of Grey

Monday was my first day back to work after a 2 week break.  I am a high school math teacher and we didn't have any students the first day.  We were attending workshops all day.  It was a very grey morning out so I let that inspire my outfit for the first day back.  I wanted to be a little casual yet comfortable and the grey sweater I bought at the boxing day sales was perfect for this.
