Sex & the City Soiree

On Oct. 14th, Silver Daisy Designs hosted an evening of fashion all in support of Hospice Saint John and in memory of Kate's father, Dr. Anthony Lordon.  Big Day Foto was a big part of the event snapping photos all evening long.  They even hosted a photo booth where you could get your picture taken with a giant shoe.  There was also a silent and live auction, as well as some yummy treats on the table.  I was so happy to be a part of this event, hope they do another one soon!  Here are some of the photos I snapped from the event and some from big day foto as well.

Queen Bee

A few months ago I stumbled across a fabulous maternity wear website, Queen Bee.  Queen bee is an Austrailian boutique that sells their clothing on-line.  They have the trendiest and stylish maternity clothes for all women, no matter what stage of pregnancy you are in.

I was so lucky to be sent the Trimester - Astute Collared Wrap Dress in black.  I wore this dress for our pregnancy photos as well as to thanksgiving dinner, as we just celebrated thanksgiving here in Canada.  It was so comfy for the hour plus drive to my parents house for dinner and I love the definition that the tie gives my waist.  The bow adds a feminine touch that allows you to dress this up or down.  I decided to dress it up for this special occasion with my animal print Guess heels and jewellery from Silver Daisy Designs.  Be sure to check out their amazing selection of dresses on their website, they have some fabulous colours and designs!  One of my favorite features of this dress is the scoop on the bottom of the dress, designed this way so that the dress will not shorten as your baby bump grows.  This is the first maternity dress I have come across like this and it is a fabulous idea!

Be sure to pop by their website and check out their other great maternity wear.  I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Blogger Video Shoot

On a rainy Sunday a couple of weeks ago a few of the local bloggers got together at Silver Daisy Designs to put together outfits, chat and shoot a video.  This video is going to be shown tonight at their Sex and the City Soiree, do you have your tickets yet?  It is sure to be an awesome evening!  I have been looking forward to this event all week, however I still need to decide what to wear.  The baby bump these days is proving hard to dress up sometimes.  Here are a few shots from that Sunday afternoon:

New Brunswick Fashion Week - Fashion Show

Last Friday night was the fashion show portion of New Brunswick fashion week.  There were lots of great pieces featured on the runway, however, unfortunately it was not a very well attended event.  It was slated to start at 1pm and run until 10:30pm.  In the afternoon things started late and only lasted an hour, which was disappointing to the audience.  My Mom had taken off the afternoon from work and drove over an hour to see my sister model, and the show only lasted an hour.  She also thought there was only about 6 people in attendance in the afternoon.

The evening also featured some of the same pieces from the afternoon plus a few extras.  However, in the middle there was a Zumba demonstration which in my opinion was a bit too long.  At times I was wondering why I was watching Zumba at a fashion event.  It just seemed out of place and was slightly too long.  It may have been better to have an intermission at that time.  Also, many people left before the local designers had a chance to show their pieces on the runway, as they were not on until after the fantasy hair and make-up competition.  Those that left certainly missed some wonderful creations from these designers!

Here are some of my favorite pieces from the fashion show: (I apologize for not knowing which pieces are from which designers/shops, this baby brain is not serving me well at times!)

Another gorgeous deisgner creation.

I am hoping the next time they do New Brunswick Fashion Week that it will be better attended and more organized.  The schedule of events for Friday was not sent until Thursday evening.  I know it is hard the first time you organize an event and you need to work out all the fine details, but I hope that next time things will be more organized and perhaps run more on schedule.  I did enjoy the evening and look forward to see what they have in store for the next one.

Fantasy Hair and Make-up Competition

Part of the events on Friday for New Brunswick Fashion week was the Fantasy Hair and Make-up Competition.  The creations these stylists and make-up artists came up with was just amazing!  However, unfortunately after this competition was over it seemed like most of the audience members left and missed the rest of the fashion show.  When first looking at the 6 creations number 5 stood out to me as my favorite and it ended up winning 1st place in the professional category. I think the reason she stood out to me was the details on her eyelids, made to look like eyes.
Here is a glimpse of some of the other gorgeous creations.  I don't know how they come up with these great ideas and how the models stayed so still the whole time!

Fashion Forward

Last week was NB Fashion week here in Saint John.  Most of my posts this week will recap the events that I attended.  Today's post is going to start with a shopping event that took place in uptown Saint John on Thursday night called Fashion Forward.  This was a great chance to do some Christmas shopping and even some shopping for yourself.  I started the evening by heading over to Silver Daisy Designs.  Silver Daisy had a great deal with no tax and if you spent $50 you got your name entered to win this gorgeous Marc Jacobs purse.
They also had a draw for a second prize for a $50 gift certificate.  I picked up a gorgeous clutch and an Esquared Jewels necklace while I was there.  Also the lovely blogger, Julia, was there doing a what to wear.  Then I headed next door to Urban shoe Myth and down the hill to Rowena's and Piece O'Cake to get a yummy pina colada cupcake!  Then I headed back to Brunswick Square where I ran into fellow blogger Emma of Full of Fabulous, as well as the lovely Pam and Chelsea of Maritime Shopaholic just outside of Je Suis Prest Boutique.  Je Suis Prest had 25% off everything in store as well as a chance to win a make over with Adam of Hairacy's and a $200 gift certificate to their store when you made a purchase!  I picked up a gorgeous red jacket and a sweater that I had on layaway.

After leaving Je Suis Prest I decided to venture home as my feet were getting sore from the cute shoes I was wearing from Manchester Shoe Salon.  Thanks to Chelsea for snapping this photo of them as we headed up the escalator.  Also after I arrived home I was so excited and surprised to hear that I had won that gorgeous purse pictured above from Silve Daisy Designs, thanks so much to Kate for offering this great prize!!

To all of my Canadian readers, I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving and got to spend some time with your family and friends!

Fashion Forward

This week is New Brunswick Fashion week.  One of the first events taking place this week is the Fashion forward event on Thursday night.

Many of the uptown shops, such as Je Suis Prest, Silver Daisy Design and Piece O Cake Custom creations, just to name a few, will be open offering promotions, giveaways and demonstrations!  They will start the evening with a toast in Brunswick square at 6pm and you are off to shop from there.  Then at 9pm shoppers are invited to meet at the Cantebury Lounge for drinks.  Be sure to pick up your flyer from one of the uptown shops for your coupon for a free fashionista drink.  This is sure to be a great evening of shopping and a great way to get a head start on your Christmas shopping plus purchase something special for yourself.  Hope to see you there!

Teal Ruffles

My blog has been getting put on the back burner lately with being back to work.  So I just wanted to share this work outfit with you from a couple of days ago.  I snapped these photos when we were having our beautiful weather at the beginning of the week.
Today's outfit is consisting of jeans and a t-shirt, as my parents are coming up to bring us our crib for the baby and help get the room set up.  There isn't too many more weeks left, as of Monday, there will only be 9 weeks until our due date!  The time sure is going fast.  In case you missed it, be sure to check out yesterday's post and help me choose a diaper bag here.  Also tomorrow, I am looking forward to getting together with some of the other local bloggers to get prepared for an exciting event being put on by Silver Daisy Designs.
