30th Birthday Wish List

305h bday wishlist

With the 30th birday coming up in May (stay tuned for awesome giveaways that week ;) ) I have stated to compile my wish list.  Realizing I need more colour in my wardrobe, I am starting to pick things to help add that!  There are also a few things off etsy that I would like to call my own as well but unforunately Polyvore won't let me clip those so I will be doing an etsy wish list later in April, as the time to my birthday draws near.  Having a wishlist is good for the hubby when it comes to shopping, still leaves room for a surprise and you get awesome stuff!  What is on your birthday wishlist?

Shoes of the Week

Two weeks ago on Rebecca's blog I saw this great DIY for a pair of heels.  DIY is something I want to try more of this year and you may remember the pair of heels my sister and I altered last year for her to wear to the ECMAs.  So when I saw these I instantly thought what a great way to bring some life to an old pair of heels or use up some beads you have laying around!  I unfortunately, have not had a chance to try these yet but the lovely Julie of Pop Champagne did and the results were amazing.  Here is a shot of her shoes below:

Aren't these shoes fabulous!  For the full instructions please see Julie's post here.  What a great and inexpensive way to add some new colour to your shoes!  I am hoping to try to make these this spring!  If you give them a try I would love to see the results!

For this week's shoe post I am doing something a little different; I am featuring some of my shoes!  I love all of these shoes but I have too many pairs and need to get rid of some.  So on Sunday, a few of us local ladies are heading to Rhoda's to sell our pre-loved things, my shoes included!  To give you a bit of a preview I thought I would post a picture here.  There are even a couple of new pairs in the pile.  All shoes will be priced at $3 to $5 per pair and sized anywhere from 9 to 10.  Any that don't go on Sunday will be posted on the shop my closet page if any of you are interested in purchasing!

First Day Back

Blazer - H&M ||  Tank - Old Navy ||  Scarf - C'est Moi * || Jeans - !iT Jeans* || Boots - Steve Madden || Ring - Ardene || Earrings - Brooklyn Thread || Nail Polish - OPI

This outfit was for my first day back to work (well, sort of); I was attending a workshop and also my first outfit post since being pregnant!  This also was the first day I left my baby girl all day long, it was hard but we got through.  This workshop was for the leadership program I am in at work and we meet 3 times a year.   I actually missed the first one since I had just had Adele.  So this was meeting number 2 and it took place on a casual Friday; hooray for jeans and a little bit of sparkle!

P.S. Don't forget to enter the giveaway from Boutique Zekara, only a few days left!

* Items purchased locally - Je Suis Prest Boutique (scarf & jeans)

What She Wore

Dress - Carters (similar) || Tights - Gymboree || Onesie - Gerber

Shopping is something I have always loved to do. When our baby girl arrived in November, this never changed. However, I now spend some of my money buying cute clothes for her. My family knows how much I love to shop and are always asking what Adele is wearing. My Aunt even posted on my Facebook wall last Saturday stating that my Uncle wanted to know what her outfit of the day was.  So here is what our baby girl wore last Saturday as we ventured uptown to our city market. Have a lovely weekend!

Shoes of the Week

Shoes made of chocolate?  Yes you read right, you can now get a custom pair of heels made out of chocolate!  The Jami Shoos (meant to sound like Jimmy Choo, clever right?) are designed by Kevin Wray the owner of Peterbrooke Chocolatier near Orlando, Florida.  He got the name for the shoes from his wife, Jami.  The customer gets to design the shoe, so the sky is the limit!  Each shoe takes about an hour and a half to make, is made out of white chocolate and then of course is painted with coloured chocolate.  Want to learn how to make these shoes?  Well your in luck because his store offers chocolate shoe making classes!  What a fun girls night out that would be!  Also they are donating 15% of sale proceeds from the pink ribbon limited edition shoes to support breast cancer awareness.  Be sure to check out their website or their site specially for the shoes if you would like to order one!

Shoes of the Week

Earlier this week while I was reading some of my favorite blogs, I came across this great shoe company, De Siena ShoesSandy a la Mode had featured a few of their designs in a post and I had to check them out!  All of the shoes on the website are beautiful and feminine.  De Siena shoes are made in Italy and are totally chic.  The shoes that caught my eye in their spring/summer line are the Jin Platform Pumps.  These shoes would be great to dress up jeans, or pair them with a dress for a fun night out!  Another reason they caught my eye is because they are red; I seem to gravitate toward red things and plus there is a bit of glitter on the heel!  Maybe I will get lucky and a pair of these will show up at Marden's one day.  These shoes will definitely be added to my list of dream shoes!  What is your dream pair of shoes?

Heaven's Alchemy & A Giveaway

(LEFT TO RIGHT: Far left – 10ml roller ($65), far right – 5ml Tassel Traveler ($75) or full set for $175 – $195 depending on the scent)
Perfume is something I could never really wear because of the overwhelming scent.  My workplace is also scent free making it something I never even considered.  However, scented lotions are something that I really like and wear everyday.  So when Donna of Boutique Zekara/Merele Norman asked me to come check out their new essential oils I was a bit nervous, since I never was into perfume.
Heaven’s Alchemy was created by a husband and wife team.  Each fragrance is named after a city they visited and the scents and bottles are designed around things they saw and smelled in each city.  Aren’t these bottles gorgeous!  And each scent has a different bottle, you can see them all here as well as the scents (just click on the images to see description of the scents).
The lovely Katie and Donna then took me through the different scents.  They asked me what sort of scents I liked.  Having a love of fruity/vanilla scents they recommended I try St. Petersburg, Istanbul and Kyoto.   With these scents they are made up of a top note, middle note and base note.  The top note is what you smell for the first 10-20 minutes when you put it on, the middle note lasts for 1-2 hours and then the base note is what you smell for hours after that.  Also, because this is made of essential oils many people who have allergies to perfumes can wear these scents.
 St. Petersburg ended up being my favorite with Istanbul in a close second.  The thing I love about the St. Petersburg scent is the lemon and orange scent that it starts out with and then the vanilla scent that you are left with by the end of the day.  This is something that I could really see myself wearing as the scent is not overwhelming.  By the end of the day I couldn’t even notice that it was still there, however my husband said he could smell it and liked the scent.  The ladies at Boutique Zekara/Merle Norman have found that the St. Petersburg tends to be the scent the men have liked on women the best.

The sets come in 3 sizes:
There is the 5ml tassel traveler which retails for $75, the 10ml roll on which retails for $65 and the Crystal set which retails for $175 - $195 depending on the scent.  These are meant to last a year so the price point is very reasonable.
Now for some exciting news…
Donna at Boutique Zekara/Merle Norman is offering one of my lucky readers her choice of either the 5ml tassel traveler or the 10ml roll on in the scent of her choice!
